Today we released a new feature in movie comments. It works similar to the ones you see on the database sites like Wowhead. You will be able to rate other users comments. If the comment get a negative score the comment will be hidden and also auto reported to admins. If the comment gets a high enough positive score it will be highlighted as a "good" comment.

The main purpose of this feature is to more effectively dispose of flames, trolling, downratings and other types of unjustified comments; as well as rewarding constructive, informative and well written comments. The complete and final removal of any comment however will still be up to qualified WCM staff.

1. Gives the comment a negative score. If the comment score is below the minimum threshold it will be hidden as well as reported to the admins. (Currently -2 or below). If a comment is hidden it can still be viewed by clicking on "Show" which will appear instead of +/-. While the comment is in the "Show" state it can be rated again.

2. Gives the comment a positive score. If the comment score is above the "positive" threshold it will be highlighted. (Currently +3 or above)

3. The current score of this comment.

4. If user rated the movie it will show here. Hovering the stars with the mouse will show more details. For example "4.5 (5/4/5/4)" means that the avg score is 4.5 and the user placed his points like this: Content: 5, Creativity: 4, Editing: 5, Audio/Video Quality: 4; the categories in the same order as in the rating square.

Note: You can only rate a comment once and you cannot rate your own comment.

With your help "bad" comments will be hidden quickly and good comments will be highlighted. Keep in mind that the thresholds will be fine tuned the coming weeks based on the data and feedback given by you.

Due to popular demands we have implemented "leet speak" to our homepage. We pulled some strings and recruited one of our top PvP Author to translate our site! Why do we go through all this trouble? This written argot will prevent our parents and others that do not play the game from understanding what we are doing here, before the summer no one outside this community will ever know we excised!

We thank you for your patience while implementing the "leet speak" on our servers, this is just the BETA phase and when everything is working leet will be default language. High end guilds from across the globe are releasing their Sunwellbosskill-movies and we wanted to give them the respect they deserve for downing content this fast:

• "Sunwell Plateau" has been lifted out from Category "TBC Instances" during this rush period.
• All Sunwell movies will be listed under Latest Movies released
• Members and Authors can now easily browse what boss they want to watch.
  
• We will try to feature the first 3-4 movies from each boss during this event, but remember to add a picture to your movie to make it unique!

Soon we will add boss sorting to all your instance movies for easier browsing. Good luck with the last bosses in there and do not forget to join in on our "Sunwell RUSH Contest"!

 

Some of you might have problems watching Filefront streams and not even Blizzard is untouched by the ISP dispute between Telia/Cognet Customers.

Blizzard Support explains this further:

"Cogent has decided not to exchange traffic directly with TeliaSonera’s AS 1299 or indirectly with AS 1299 through a third-party provider. As a result, Cogent has partitioned the Internet and disrupted the flow of traffic between Cogent and TeliaSonera customers. While this has a negative impact on some users of the Internet, this effect is the result of Cogent’s decision and is unfortunately beyond TeliaSonera’s control."

Please note that this is an issue with Filefronts ISP and it has nothing to with WarcraftMovies's servers.

As the topic reads - Stage6 is shutting down on February 28. They have been struggling with the massive usage of bandwidth for quite some time. That they have been trying to keep the cost down has been very clear for us when many Authors here on WCM have had their movies removed from Stage6 based on too high bandwidth usage. Nevertheless, Stage6 has been an obvious choice for many of our users since the launch in 2006 and the high quality streaming service has been perfect for this community.
